From Google News Search: "unfair" How is it justice to have a set of rules and treat everyone equally when life is inherently unfair? Q. How is it justice to have a set of rules and treat everyone equally when life is inherently unfair? When some people have been dealt a worse hand in life than others? Of course, we do all have free will to follow or not follow rules accordingly. But on the other hand, there are things like inherited genes, unlucky circumstances that we can't control. These things can make it much more difficult for some to follow rules than others. With this in mind, how can we apply rules (no matter how good they are) uniformly to people and call that equality? Asked by ambidreamz - Wed Aug 12 17:23:40 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. Just because life is unfair does not mean that the rules also have to be unfair. Would penalize a straight-A student because he gets better grades? Would you penalize an athlete because he can run faster than others? Would you penalize my children because I invest and plan on leaving them a inheritance? Answered by MikeGolf - Wed Aug 12 17:37:41 2009 How should I go about complaining to a Dean about a unfair teacher? Q. My professor I feel, along with many of my fellow student, that our teacher has a unfair and ridiculous way of grading. Her aim in grading is really against the student by weighing a project, worth 140 point in her book, equal to a homework check, which she marks as 5 point. She never explained fully about her absurd grading nor does it go with what she had written down in the course syllabus and her form of assigning "points" mislead me. So I'm wondering how should I press this issue towards a Dean? Should I start by having students, which I'm sure their willing to do, sign a petition? Please help. Thanks. If a petition is the right way to go; what sort of information should I put on the petition? As I've never done something like this.… [cont.] Asked by David H - Mon Mar 26 01:29:04 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. petition would help a lot...usually there are few lines on top...stating the reasons and bunch of lines/boxes for signature. it doesn't have to be a certain format. you can provide space for the students to put their reasons to sign the petition, which will be a good idea in this case. take the petition to the dean but after chatting with him for the first time...get an idea of his intentions and if it doesn't look good then spread that petition to everywhere u can...mail copies to other official, hand 'em out to people, send 'em to other teachers...basically make a big deal about it...best time to do this is after dropping the class...or changing the status from a grade to just pass/false which doesn't affect your GPA.
