What can the passengers do to reduce social injustice on the bus?
Q. Imagine you are traveling on a public bus in big city (e.g., Istanbul, Paris, Cairo, etc.). The bus is crowded and the bus ride will take 40 minutes. Many passengers do not think of social justice when they are traveling on a city bus. They have all paid the bus fare and they appear to be equal: Everyone is a passenger. Please explain why we need to think about social justice when we are in a crowded bus, riding with many people for 40 minutes. What can the passengers do to reduce social injustice on the bus?

A. Well younger people could give up their seats for elderly people or pregnant women. I once lived in a city and we had many special needs people who worked and rode the bus. The regulars who also rode the bus made sure that people did not mistreat the special needs passengers. They were very protective of them and made sure that bullies didn't bother them. I always liked that.

A. Have you or someone in your family been subject to "injustice" in the justice system? If so, describe. If not, do you have an opinion of whether there are distinct areas, as opposed to isolated, individual cases, where there is injustice in the justice system? Do you have an opinion if any class of people, either by race, creed, gender, sexual preference, poor, rich, religious preference, or the like receive a different brand of justice than do all others? A. Wow, this is a really good topic! People hate because they're suffering. You can help them get what's bugging them off their chest, but you can't just ignore what they're saying as if it's completely wrong... Those are their feelings and must be dealt with somehow. Also, you might find that you are wrong about something. What's most important is LOVE... Only LOVE can conquer our hearts! With LOVE, we'll be able to listen to each other and come to a conclusion that doesn't involve injustice and intolerance. Sure, we'll become frustrated and act out in haste, but with LOVE, we can all come back to what's important... LOVE! One can't be TRULY converted by being told that they have to, or else. Also, punishment only further… [cont.]

How feasible will it be to observe a World Peace Day in the face of injustice all over the place?
Q. The United Nations Organisation has set aside some special dates for observance of various problems of international concern. Many organisations have cried out against injustice worldwide pointing out that only real justice can ensure lasting peace in our world. But it looks like world leaders/rulers are all along shouting peace without ensuring justice in all its ramifications. Let us all remember Cause and Effects.

A. You observe World Peace Day to support the idea of world peace not the fact that there is no peace in the world. The idea is to let the rest of the world know that you support the ideal and not the reality.

A. I'm sorry, normally I'm happy to help with books and authors questions, but this is just too easy for you to not know if you read the book. Besides, this book is too wonderful NOT to be read by every American--or at least rent the movie with Gregory Peck. I will point you in the right direction, however. You have an innocent Black man in the deep South during the days of segregation accused of a crime against a white woman. You have a all-white male jury. What do you think is likely to happen? You need to read this. It's an easy read and a life-changing experience.

He should have taken action, like Atticus did, to try to ensure justice to all people. Write about how it isn't enough to hide from your problems. You have to take action. Hope this helps...

What do you feel is the biggest 'injustice' you have ever seen?
Q. It could be anything. Small. Big. Personal to you. It doesn't have to be legal - it could be the fact your cat was fed rabbit for years. The biggest injustice as far as I am concerned was regarding Mother Teresa's death, or at least the coverage of it in the UK. Princess Diana died roughly at the same time - those ubiquitous sobs and calls for her to be a saint. Meanwhile, a true saint, who never knew any of the finer things in life, died with barely a mention on British TV. What about you?

How would you define injustice?
Q. I have to do a drama piece on the theme of injustice, and so I was just wondering what's everyone's view on injustice is? What kind of things make you fired up because you find them unfair? Anything happened to you? Thanks! Plus any ideas for a drama piece would be greatly appreciated too :)

A. I always like to look to the roots of a word to get its meaning. Injustice is from the Latin 'ius, iuris' -- right or law (from the second form, the genitive, we get jury, jurisprudence etc.) What is unjust is what ain't right. For example, if I stepped on your toe and you killed me, people would say, "Hey! That ain't right. That was unjust. You shoulda just socked him one." It's hard to get fired up in this crazy world. I generally just say, "You were a silly billy to do that."

Does anyone know of a good fictional book that deals with some kind of social injustice?
Q. I have to do a reading assignment on a book that deals with some form of social injustice. We are allowed to pick the book however all of the books that are recommended are non-fiction, which I don't find interesting. Therefore I'm looking for a good fiction book that deals with this issue. Any suggestions are welcome. :)
