Canada ( / ˈ k æ n ə d ə /) is a country occupying most of northern North America, extending from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west and northward into the Arctic Ocean. It is the world's second largest country by total area. Canada's common border with the United States to the south and northwest is the longest in the world. The land occupied by Canada was inhabited for millennia by various groups of Aboriginal peoples. Beginning in the late 15th century, British and French expeditions explored, and later settled, along the Atlantic coast. France ceded nearly all of its colonies in North America in 1763 after the Seven Years' War. In 1867, with the union of three British North American colonies through Confederation, Canada was formed as a federal dominion of four provinces. This began an accretion of provinces and territories and a process of increasing autonomy from the United Kingdom. This widening autonomy was highlighted by the Statute of Westminster of 1931 and culminated in the Canada Act of 1982, which severed the vestiges of legal dependence on the British parliament. A federation consisting of ten provinces and three territories, Canada is governed as a parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy with Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state. It is a bilingual nation with both English and French as official languages at the federal level. One of the world's highly developed countries, Canada has a diversified economy that is reliant upon its abundant natural resources and upon trade—particularly with the United States, with which Canada has had a long and complex relationship. It is a member of the G8, G-20, NATO, OECD, WTO, Commonwealth, Francophonie, OAS, APEC, and UN. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License canada???? Q. me and my boyfriend plan on moving into canada (mississauga/toronto area), permanently. but i was wondering what the laws are to become a citizen and to basically immigrate into canada and out of the u.s.. we also need to know if there is also a process for taking animals. i moved there when i was little and it was a fairly difficult process to get ourselves and pets there. so yeah. help? Asked by haymegrez - Mon Oct 8 20:25:24 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. www.cic.gc.ca is the immigration web site. Basically you have to have something to offer Canada, and the one of you that has the most to offer (points by education, skill, training, languages) should be the primary applicant for permanent resident status, if you can claim common-law spouse. Animals really aren't much of a problem as long as you have proof of their vaccination history. It is much more complicated for people but the web site details the things you must do and lets you add up your points and see if you will likely be accepted. Answered by hanora - Mon Oct 8 22:52:57 2007 How can we bring our handcapped child to Canada? Q. We obtained recently our Canadian citizenship through the resident permanent procedure, however our first child, who was born with spina bifida and is handicapped, remained in our country of origin. We have never declared him in front of the Canada immigration, since he has always lived in a government medical centre for children with special needs. Now, after communicating with several lawyers, we realized that we violated the Canada immigration law. We would greatly appreciate any advise of how we could possibly bring him to Canada. Asked by Didi - Sun Apr 6 16:14:11 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. the only possible way to do this is if you do it through H&C. you must also provide information about how you can support your son's illness when he arrives here and build a case around the fact that he needs to be with you. Q. Gold medal is fine but Canada needs its trophy and sport back where it belongs. Vancouver and Montreal for the cup baby! Americans need to stick to baseball football and basketball as they have no business playing hockey. Stupid Americans!
