How good is your memory for stories?
Q. How does the recall for details of stories effect individuals on a daily basis?
Asked by Derrick P - Mon Mar 30 17:21:47 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I think I personally am able to remember stories pretty well. I think some of the effects of having a good or bad ability to remember stores are things like this: 1. Telling the same story to people multiple times. If you have a bad memory of stories, you might tell the same story, in a slightly different way each time, to the same people not realizing you are doing this, which can be frustrating and awkward. 2. People might need to tell you the same story more than once, if you forget the story they told you when they prompt you about it later on. 3. If the stories are of an educational nature, like, stories your teachers or professors tell, it can be a big problem if you can't remember these, as it might hurt your academic… [cont.]

Anyone know where I can read "Snows of Kilimanjaro" by Hemingway online? I just need that individual story
Q. I've found a few of them, mostly "The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber" Looks like I can download the audiobook of that collection. Ah, well.
Asked by Rusty S - Fri Jul 25 00:26:29 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It's not in the public domain (meaning it can't freely be distributed), so you'll have a hard time finding a full text online. Try putting "full text" by the title of the story...but Hemingway is pretty closely guarded among publishers. If it's an emergency, you may have to make do with cliffnotes or sparknotes online. If it's not an emergency, go to the library and find some American Lit anthologies.

Does anybody know of a real case/story of an individual being penalized or punished by the IRS?
Q. I am curious to know if it is real that the IRS follows leads to tax fraud by middle class taxpayer, or they don't pursue small fish. If you know of any type of enforcement, let me know.
Asked by RibeiroWorld - Wed May 21 13:00:06 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Well it depends on what you mean. I can tell you that if you don't file your returns for years you owe money, you will certainly be asseses penalties and interest. As far as jail time and court, etc., I have never heard of a "small fish" getting those kind of punishments but I wouldn't put it past them and wouldn't try the system to see what happens.

Do the needs of the individual outweigh the needs of the group?
Q. I have an oral report tomorrow in English and I chose the side of the individual. What are some good points to support the individual side of the spectrum. Websites, personal stories and more are all appreciated. 10 points on the line for the most helpful, thanks in advance <3!

A. You can always argue that groups do not exist without individuals. I personally think that individuals and individual rights are more important. I know that I exist. I'm thinking right now and I exist. But do I know that the United States exists? The United States only exists as long as we all agree it does. The minute we stop agreeing it exists, then it doesn't exist. So groups are made up by people who get together and claim to be a part of a group. If people want to claim their made up group has needs over my needs, then I ask them, what if another made up group has needs over their needs. The only thing we know exists for a fact are individuals. So, I'm hesistant to claim that any supposed "group" has rights over my or any… [cont.]

How much individual attention do children in large families normally get?
Q. I occasionally have caught episodes of "18 Kids and Counting" and "Jon and Kate Plus 8", and I have sometimes wondered this. I grew up as an only child, so of course, I got plenty of undivided attention from my mother. (Some would say too much, but that's another story.) I really wonder how much individual attention the Duggar and Gosselin kids normally get. How often do they have heart-to-heart discussions with their parents? Can it actually be psychologically harmful for children to belong to such a large family?

It may be more strain on the Duggars though, I only have 2 but they get plenty of one on one time with me, and so does daddy. No i dont think it is harmful God will never give u more than u can handle. You just has to know how to work with what u have

Can an individual use charity to pay off their mortgage?
Q. My intial question was grammatically incorrect and poorlly stated. I want to establish a charity which pays off other peoples' mortgages. Basically I collect money and give it to the bank then the bank hands the note over to the individual. They own there house free and clear. I was thinking a website where individuals could post their own story and "angels" could donate part or all of the funds needed. Would I even have to "collect" the money? Could it be routed directly to an account that has been set up with the bank or title company ahead of time? This is a very, very rough idea any thoughts/suggestions/resp onses are appreciated.

A. You may want to start by looking at the operations of non profits such as Nehemiah Corp, which gives housing downpayment to qualified individuals What you are thinking is a complex operation. You need expert advice from lawyers, accountants -- especially as that type of operation would always merit the close eagle look of the IRS. You don't want to cross the line as to what you can do as a non profit/charity and what you can't as stipulated by your 501C3 certification. My suggestion is to research your idea more. Talk to informed people. Talk to lawyers familiar with handling of charities and non profits. Even Nehemiah Corp. is fighting for its very survival with the IRS right now because the IRS thinks they are overstepping the line… [cont.]

can i buy a collection of the first batman stories that DC printed?
Q. I am not a collector - I would just like to buy the stories from the start for my little boy. Is the only way to buy individual comic books?
Asked by u114487 - Sat May 9 11:46:42 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. DC actually has hardcover collections of all of the original stories of all of their flagship characters /but/ you might want to stay away from Batman's original stories. They were pretty violent. I'm sure they have collections of the ones directed at younger readers. That might be more appropriate for your son. If you go to any comic store and just ask the clerk, they'll have good recommendations. -Khan

Q. The news station aired facts but in a way that made the company look bad and mentioned the name of the owner. Was a solitary individual causing mayhem for the collins submarine computerization effort ?
Q. The thought crossed my mind after the publication of the book "Collins Class Submarine Story: Steel, Spies and Spin". Would it be likely to be a real individual, or a "virtual" individual - a cardboard cutout composite of real individuals ? If there was an individual causing mayhem, wouldn't staff be resigning or be being pushed out ? So if I can find charts showing changes in position numbers, mightn't that offer me a clue as to if there's an individual causing mayhem ? Won't each individual coming in to the organization serve as a kind of Wilson cloud chamber, a kind of geiger counter, capturing info about what is happening ?

A. Well, in China, they always teach the kids about this guy named lei feng. He's not much of a hero that saves the day but an incredibly nice guy. He once carried an old lady to her house because her house is up the mountain and the old lady was very tired. The most courageous thing he did was when at the army training camp, one of his fellow soldiers held a live grenade and he wasn't aware. Lei feng took the grenade from his hand and ran away from everyone and it exploded and killed only him.

A. Well I currently am Goth, and I get mixed reactions from people. Some will give me nice compliments about my lace parasol or my clothes and are generally very nice to me. Most people are just curious or find the look interesting, especially since I live in a small town. At work and church the people are just used to how I dress, so they are fine with it, they are all nice people anyways. I do however get the few jerks that will say rude things to me, like "halloweens over, freak" or some ignorant people will call me emo and tell me to go cut myself. I just ignore them, or I will give them a big smile! Kill em with kindness, right?

For instance, you may be able to generate an RSS feed excluding articles that are tagged "nonsyndicated" or you might be able to do the opposite and generate an RSS feed for articles tagged "syndicated". Also, spoiler alert: If there's anything you feel that you must know about the protagonist, it's all listed here.

Is anyone out there familiar with little people that live in the walls of houses?
Q. I was at a party recently, and I was talking to this couple who both had individual stories of "little people"--actual human looking creatures who habitate in walls. I kept asking when they were going to tell me it was a joke, or if they were just testing how gullible I was. It was a strange conversation, because they were both pretty adamant that these creatures existed. If you have any stories to tell, please share--I couldn't really find anything on the internet, but maybe I need a more specific search term. Thanks!

A. The only reference I could find regarding "little people in walls" was this: the elves were not bound by physical limitations and could pass through walls and doors in the manner of ghosts frequently used in early 20th century Sweden as painted or carved onto doors, walls and household utensils in order to protect against elves. I would love to hear more regarding any mythology about The Little People as they are always a fantastic read. Good luck!

I would love to hear more regarding any mythology about The Little People as they are always a fantastic read. Good luck!

What's a historical example where collective individual actions have sparked a government to change policies?
Q. For example, some environmentalists believe that if more people adopted a culture of environmental consciousness, then our government would follow suit. I'm not talking about writing letters to your senator or lobbying or collective actions that are obviously political. I'm talking about an example in which a culture changes its behavior in some way, and in so doing compels government to change its behavior. Are there any good anecdotes or true stories of this kind of development taking place? I'm looking for a good anecdote.

What is your opinion of the claim that truth is not objective, but rather is determined by each individual?
Q. Akira Kurosawa s film masterpiece Rashomon portrays several people who have witnessed a death. As each observer recounts the event as he or she witnessed it, we come to realize that each person s story varies greatly from every other account. Watching the movie, we reflect that the truth of an experience and perhaps all truth is different for each person.

A. It is silly. 2+3=5 even if you think it is 7.
